MVgeneral - Hospital-Wide Electronic Medical Record for Acute Care

The MetaVision^® electronic medical record, MVgeneral, greatly enhances the ability to coordinate, manage and streamline patient care processes in those areas of the hospital where healthcare professionals tend multiple patients and multiple caregivers treat each patient.

Integrated patient data

MetaVision features tools for data collection, presentation, order management, decision support and analysis, and provides caregivers with immediate access to the information they need. It integrates observations made at the bedside with data from hospital information systems - such as ADT, labs, PACS and pharmacy - into the patient record, serving as the single reference for all information needed for the day to day care of the hospitalized patient. The system’s flexible display allows physicians, nurses, consultants and other providers to view each patient’s data, based on their unique needs.

Communication between caregivers

MetaVision improves communication between caregivers and supports a smooth transition during handoffs. It tracks and displays information about the group of healthcare professionals involved in each patient’s care, and offers ways for them to communicate with each other using both formal documentation tools, such as notes, forms, and flowsheets, and informal tools, such as memos and e-mail-like messages.

Patient care tracking and management

MetaVision provides healthcare professionals with an overview of the patients for whom they are currently responsible and helps track those patients’ course of treatment, status and location. The system reminds nurses of outstanding tasks related to their patients and saves time documenting observations on several patients in succession. It issues reminders for on-time care and medication delivery and prompts to confirm task completion and medication administration. A Physician inbox conveniently displays a list of pending items such as recent lab results to review or documents requiring signature.

Decision support

MetaVision continuously scans all patient data to flag problems or omissions and issues smart notifications when specific changes in a patient’s condition are detected. This ensures that attention is focused on those patients most in need. MetaVision also provides proactive advice while prescribing, supports comprehensive review of the treatment plan prior to signature, and performs contra-indication checks prior to committing new prescriptions.
