MetaVision for Anesthesia: Drug Labeling

Integrated anesthesia drug labeling for safe drug preparation and administration

Medication administration in anesthesia presents significant patient safety challenges. As a result, numerous regulatory bodies offer guidelines for medication labeling. partners with third party hardware suppliers to provide an integrated bar code-assisted syringe labeling technology that assists in complying with regulatory standards, while improving workflow, efficiency, and accuracy.

Designed for the perioperative environment, the labeling system reads the NDC bar code on the vial and an integrated printer then produces full-color labels that comply with the 2010 National Safety Patient Goals of The Joint Commission (TJC) and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Guidelines. It provides clinicians with IV medication safety checks, such as visual and audible confirmation of each drug name, concentration and clinical alerts for recalled and other non-usable drugs.

The labeling system integrates seamlessly with the MetaVision® Anesthesia Information Management System, which records drug administration, and further enhances patient safety by issuing notifications of events, such as expired syringes or syringe swaps.
